Art for After Hours at Artisphere 2012: Anthony Cappetto and Shawn McCann

Hello to our readers from the Artisphere International Arts Festival in Greenville SC.

Art for After Hours was happy to come back down to this fun festival celebrating art in early May to re create 2D street paintings, a pleasant diversion from our 3D illusionary artworks.

 

This year, Shawn McCann and I both re-created art works from artist Daryl Thetford who uses collage in his works.

It was a fun time for all of us at Artisphere this year, despite and unexpected rain day but our spirits were not deterred.  Looking forward to returning again in 2013!

Artisphere 2012: Art for After Hours chalk artists Anthony Cappetto and Shawn McCann returning to Greenville!

This weekend, fellow chalk artist Shawn McCann and I will be heading back to Greenville, SC to share our chalk art with the visitors to the Artisphere International Arts Festival.  Here are the sketches we will be re-creating at the event this weekend.  Although Shawn and I typically create large scale 3D chalk art projects with Art for After Hours - Its fun to do some nice 2d on occasion too.  Especially with the tasty Southern cooking in Greenville!

'Havoc' Murals and Humidor Painting at CIGARfest 2012

Hi!

In a diversion from my regular 3D street painting art, I was offered the opportunity to do some mural work and humidor painting at the Romeo y Julieta booth at CIGARfest 2012.  This event is one of the largest cigar themed events in the country and regardless of where people stand on cigar smoking, the opportunity to create art for viewers was fun to do, people were very appreciative, and all of the work that I did was raffled off to help support a good cause which was for an organization providing help and support to mentally challenged individuals in the region of Lake Harmony, PA.

 

This was one of two murals that I did promoting the new 'Havoc' cigar by Romeo Y Julieta measuring approximately five by five feet in size.

Later on in the day, the murals were raffled off to a lucky attendee!

Magic Beans! Art for After Hours at the Tribeca Film Festival Family Street Fair 2012

Hi everyone,

Its been a little while since we've been on Business of Street Painting Art but we have had some new developments we wish to share with our readers.  It was great to be able to share 3D chalk art live on the streets of New York City to such an appreciative audience.  Wendy and I had a great time!

 

 

 

This was a quick but fun project for the Tribeca Film Festival Family Street Fair with the family friendly theme of 'Jack and the Beanstalk'.

This project took a day and a half to do, and measured approximately 8' by 13' in size.

The chalk work around our piece (seen from the other side) was from the young children who were excited to see the fairy tale art and responded with masterpieces of their own...

 

BTW, I'm entered in the 'Art Takes Times Square' billboard event on June 18th and closng in on my goal of having large 3D street painting such as 'Visions of Cambodia' flashed on the billboards of Times Square!  To 'collect' my portfolio, click the link below and follow the instructions.

Street Art Murals with AR: Going Vertical - and on the ground too...

As many of our readers know, Art for After Hours is blending the traditional chalk art form with the emerging technologies of animated augmented reality (AR). We are finding that our recent projects using AR with the chalk art are generating large amounts of attention and interest, we like this of course...

 

As our recent project in Mumbai showed us was that blending multiple aspects of Art for After Hours art work - 3D chalk art, wall mural art, and AR can be very successful in crowd attention, extendable to branding, launches, and campaigns.

The interaction here is a start for us and Art for After Hours sees a growing trend in bringing technologies such as AR into our traditional 3D chalk and indoor/outdoor mural works.  Projects can be developed in ways to intensify the illusionary experience, present client goals in a dynamic, interactive way not done anywhere esle at this point in time.

Hundreds of students from IIT Bombay not only viewed the AR through our iPad setup but posed nonstop for three days to be part of the animated AR experience.

These pictures are just a few of the hundreds taken of different students during the festival,  the takeaways possible in events and launches are very clear.

Art for After Hours launches 3D/AR business for street art wall murals, joining 3D/AR chalk art

Happy New Year from Art for After Hours!

Last year was an exciting year for us to introduce the use of animated augmented reality (AR) into our 3D chalk art events.  Over the New Year, I was invited to Mumbai, India bringing along Art for After Hours wall mural and 3D chalk artist Shawn McCann to present the vision of 'blending' traditional art and emerging technologies to the Techfest 2012 event at IIT Bombay in Mumbai, India.

The project was a lot of fun for us and a great stage to share my ideas of blending art and technology together for a three day attendance of over 80,000 students and attendees.

Here we have Shawn posing with a portion of the completed main wall for the Techfest event in which he designed and supervised a team of onsite student assistants to produce outdoor street art wall murals in a five day period.  The main wall (detail, above) measured 27 meters long by 4.5 meters high, while the secondary wall (below) measured 6.25 meters by 4.5 meters high.

While Shawn was working on the wall murals, I (Anthony Cappetto) designed and produced the first 3D chalk art/ animated AR project in India (below) and the second 3D chalk art/ animated AR project anywhere in the world up to this point.  Iam  standing up the highest and positioned just left of center.

 The IIT students and I were interacting with the AR model of the IIT robot mascot 'chasing' the robot over the 'Cityscape' 3D chalk art mural which took approximately 30 hours to complete in advance of the event start.

This being our second project blending the 3D chalk and AR, Art for After Hours is finding that the interest by the public in the emerging technology is very high.  We had a near continuous stream of several hundred IIT students  lined up to interact with our AR models over the three day festival.  Here are a few examples from the event:

Shawn and I had a great time with the art and Art for After Hours looks forward to developing a new generation of blended art project using 3D street art murals, 3D chalk art projects, or both for our established and new clients in corporate and exhibition projects in the USA and internationally.

3D Chalk Artist Anthony Cappetto at the Verizon UNLV Chalk - Back to School Event August 29th -31st

Hi Everyone,

I just got back from creating an exceptionally fun 3D chalk art project for the Verizon UNLV Chalk - Back to School Event August 29th -31st in Las Vegas.  The art was created in a tight time frame for an interactive event with the student body in which the most highly voted interactivity pictures from their website Verizon Insider   will win a new tablet with  Verizon 4G LTE.  I have seen some of the pictures from yesterday alone and the poses are really fun to watch and play on the design I developed with Hey Reb!, UNLV mascot on a bridge with the backdrop of the Hoover Dam and a tablet riding on waves of water with the client team. Anthony Cappetto/Art for After Hours: A conversation about performance, blending and sharing experiences with 3D chalk art with Augmented Reality (AR)

This seems to be the time that I am seeing augmented reality reaching the world at least at the financial news level, and I expect the mainstream to follow suit soon.

As a 3D street painting artist who has been exploring the possibilities of blending emerging technology and social media since 2007, this is great to hear.

My 3D street painting (chalk) art company, Art for After Hours is pleased to announce that we are taking the step forward to bring the combination of 3D chalk art and emerging technologies to our clients over the singular 3D chalk art event alone.

As the founder of Art for After Hours, the 3D chalk work that I will supervise and design working with selected artists on our team will go beyond a simple 3D concept that merely shows a product or pitch in a small area, which is becoming increasingly common and somewhat mundane. Our clients for using 3D chalk art with augmented reality (AR) and other emerging technologies into the latest and more persuasive modes of physical sensation and emotional engagement with their users, viewers, and social environments.  We call this performance, blending, and sharing.

Performance - Creating the traditional interaction between the artist and the viewer as the chalk art (madonnari street painting art) has done for over four centuries.  Traditional street painting, also called pavement, sidewalk, or chalk art, is an art form in which artists draw with chalk pastels on the street, pavement, or sidewalk and the finished images resemble paintings with their composition and detail.

Blending -The enhancement of the street painting expereince using our 3D chalk art through applications of augmented reality (AR), Mixed Reality (MR) and Social Media as an integral part of your experiential event.

Sharing - Bringing the blended 3D chalk experience to a users/participants perspective though multiple portals of our clients whether product/brand launches, initiatives, public/private festivals and events, indoors, outdoors or both simultaneously.

The 3D chalk art works of Art for After Hours will continue to be those of chalk art as performance as well as blending, and of sharing - at the local, regional, national, or global level.  We seek and prefer clients ready to forgo the canned chalk art show and step up to what we see as the evolution of a 400 year old art form we respect greatly and only care to present in its best light.
