Happy New Year and Decade from Art for After Hours!
Last year was a year of concepts, community, installations, (and mural work to be posted in the near future)...
Here we go!
'Conceptual' - 'Return to Cambodia'
A sequel to our signature 3D 4D piece 'Visions of Cambodia', a 3D discussion of the wonders of the natural world with our interpretation of the built environment across Cambodia. Use of wall and ground planes for one unified 3D illusion.
We are mixing previous pictures of our 2011 piece 'Visions of Cambodia' as a recollection of spirit and concept...
A first use of 4D (augmented reality) upon our 30 by 40 foot 3D chalk art installation viewed through tablet screen...
What one sees through the tablet screen - animated hummingbird and butterflies reacting to my movements.
At work developing the piece.
Working in chalk at large scale...
And in paint...
Wendy wrangling the line of viewers...
Being seen within not standing by an artwork which Art for After Hours prefers to do in our designs.
'Martian Dreamer' -
Imagining a young Hispanic girl from the near future imagining further the day she is the very first woman to walk upon the surface of Mars. Liberties were taken with moon boot type shoes, and a helmet reminiscent of the 1960s era space age (and a personal favorite of mine)...
Example of the drawing design required for the anamorphic effect when seen at a set point defined by the artist design.
Community Interaction and Sharing -
Before starting 'Martian Dreamer' Wendy and I worked with elementary school art students introducing basic chalk techniques so they could work on a 3D design made for them so a complete 3D illusion could be made with their newly learned skills.
Presenting the basics...
Wendy guiding the progress of the student drawn piece.
Students and their art instructor proudly posing with their 3D street painting.
'Pick Up Sticks' -
Our take on the popular children's game at the inaugural street painting festival at the Crystal Bridges Art Museum in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
'Holding' a pick up stick keeping the ladybug upon it...
At work...
Wendy and I posing at the end of the Festival...
'Down for the Count' a 3D installation mural for a private event.
'One World' - A statement showing everyone under the sun around the world are one. All immigrants, all peoples.
Anthony at work...
Bringing 3D street painting to events large and small...
'Brooklyn Balancing Act' -
3D interactive artwork gridded, drawn, and colored in one day. A nod to cutting edge, mesh architecture as a thoughtful, conceptual, alternative to other 'drop' solutions. Art for After Hours loves to imagine and design conceptual ideas, large and midsize. Check out our ladybug at the lower right...
2019 was lots of fun for us, in concepts and art we can bringing to our audiences and viewers. As said earlier new 3D murals, permanent installations, media, and developments for spring.
Thanks to all of our clients, festival directors, and the public excited and inspired by our traditional, yet conceptual mindset to a centuries old art form for our current 21st century and the 2020s just begun.
