I had the pleasure this month to be invited to participate in 'Part of Antwerp', an international art festival as one of a group of top street artists creating 3D street painting at indoor and outdoor locations along the Port of Antwerp. I was the sole American artist participating at the Festival. This is my 3D street art piece - 'A Puzzling Reality...'.
This piece in its concept uses a motif of fading imagery and approach starting with the puzzle itself. Viewers noticed a puzzle piece that had fallen out of the vertical panel which is actually the 'real' of the group of sunflowers in a field with dragon flies under a blue sky with clouds.
The puzzle piece at left falls onto the puzzle on the ground area in front of the vertical while I pick up another piece to put into place.
The puzzle itself fades away into reality in a similar way to different drawn aspects of the art themselves fading from completion such as the sunflowers, leaves in higher detail radiating from the seed centers to the grass at the bottom front of the 3D illusion. The dragon flies, drawn from the standpoint of a graphic complete the connection of the art as a cohesive 3D anamorphic illusion by Cappetto.

Along with many of the top 3D street artists in Europe, I had the privilege of doing my 3D street art piece. Pictured with his 3D installation is renowned street artist Gregor Wosik. I am interviewed about my work at the beginning and end of this video showing the works of many of the fine artists participating in the festival.
Here I am working on my piece, making sure that the last puzzle pieces are in place... :D
Thank you to my hosts, Part of Antwerp, the Add More Colors Agency, Nele, and the full team who made our artist experience exciting, fun, and fulfilling!

Just got back from an exciting project in Garden Grove, CA where Art for After Hours created a 4D project using animated augmented reality with traditional, hand drawn and designed 3D chalk art for the Open Streets Event April 1st. No jokes here! :D
Here is our video highlighting the art and the tech... Watch for Anthony interacting with the animated robot in AR live (at the time), jumping briefly on the bike, then choosing to run, jump and exit the 'Collapsing Ramp' ...
Note: For information purposes -
Top: Finished 3D art
Bottom: 4D animated augmented reality added to art (robots and flags) live onsite. Photo seen through large monitor screen so there was a difference in colors.
Now some bright, active street painting pictures!
The importance of the 3D chalk work, traditionally hand drawn in our opinion brings the art and the technology together as past, present, and future as one cohesive whole.
Yes, a screen grab but the concept is clear - traditional 3D anamorphically drawn street painting can and does mingle well with animated AR for an experience in public engagement unlike any other in street art. Art for After Hours Founder and Artist Anthony Cappetto has been a Pioneer and an Early Adopter with virtual spaces, reality, and augmented reality demos and launches in the US and India since the mid 2000s with only more detailed, conceptual, and forward thinking engagements to come.

Just as the post says - we are very excited about the developments in 4D street art and how we at Art for After Hours have been able to share this nascent application of the emerging technologies into our project demos in this last year.
We have been testing ways to bring the 4D aspects that is animated augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and newer applications underway for our 2017 initiatives in the US and internationally on greater and brighter scales.
Here we will take a look into some of our developments for 2016 and a window into our next steps already in motion for 2017...
Hangin' On: (2016) Venice, FL
4D: Augmented Reality (AR) with reverse 3D anamorphic effect mural install.
A fun experience and an great opportunity to show the excitement of 4D using augmented reality (AR) live onsite for over 2,000 participants over three days in Venice, FL. Our demo videos show the stream of interaction with people, the painted reverse 3D illusionary art allowing us to 'hang on' the side of a hi-rise in a clearly playful way, and the 'live' giant butterflies in AR all together as one immersive experience.
A public demo for displaying the possibilities of augmented and virtual reality with a live chalk event with a stream of excited, interested viewers looking to see the excitement. We showed how Chinese styled bowls, modeled in AR, shown live to the public as demo, virtual reality (VR) demo of a 'walkthrough' of the art seen through our phones with a dedicated app.
Using an oversized, playful interpretation of Chinese and Japanese cuisine, Art for After Hours took the chalk art, AR, and VR into a combined immersive experience live for many people who had never seen 4D emerging technology in a hands on way.
Field demo of how AR is viewed to the public using markers via dedicated app toggling between AR/VR.
A visitor to our 4D install viewing our VR walkthrough of 'Asian Fusion'. Check out the deconstruction on the Chinese Bowl as motif.
Rutgers University Mark Conference: (2016) New Brunswick, NJ
Our presentation at the Mark Conference comprised of shooting stars in AR, a VR island, as demo within a 3D vertical horizontal combined anamorphic mural design.
From my breakout session, staff having a good time in the art, test viewing the tech through our app...
Bringing the 4D tech from concept through demos this year was exciting to do, but even more so is the capacities of emerging technologies such as augmented, virtual realities, mixed reality, haptics, large scale projections and more in full scale corporate, branding, and international deployments with nothing limiting the application of conceptuality and imagination.
We are big fans of the conceptual and a few examples are in order...
'The Movement of Change...' (2016) Baltimore, MD
3D live installation in chalk for public event in Baltimore. MD. We walked across a bridge symbolizing change, evolution of concept, and applications of modernist architectural themes.
Despite a substantial amount of rain, we stayed the course and brought this exciting install to attendees with lots of pictures.
'Tesla Coil' :Dedication to Nikola Tesla: (2016) Rahway, NJ
A festival honoring Nikola Tesla's numerous contributions to science and technology- and an opportunity to bring his coil into interaction with a Tesla vehicle (supplied locally) for a crowd pleaser to the event.
And a nod to our first 4D installation which brought us into the world of 4D... The first use of augmented reality as part of our large scale 3D chalk art measuring thirty feet wide by forty feet deep.
'Visions of Cambodia' (2011) Sarasota, FL
2016 has been a breakout year for Art for After Hours bringing 4D demos of augmented and virtual reality in projects large and small, conceptually and immersively for many people excited about and interested in where technology is going in their lives and in their entertainment.
And other interesting ideas...
Figurative animation added onto a 3D chalk art project previously done in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Hello to our viewers from Little Italy in Baltimore!
Art for After Hours team of Anthony Cappetto with Wendy Stum (our Marketing Director) returned to Little Italy in Baltimore MD to create a new conceptual 3D pavement art installation at the Little Italy Madonnari Festival.
The 3D piece, 'The Movement of Change' celebrates dichotomies such as Order/Disorder, Past/Future, Traditional/Conceptual in its design.
Using the bridge as a metaphor of change atop a reinterpretation of the illusionary drop using aluminum ribs clad by glazing between horizontal concrete beams over a traditional outdoor scene.
We always encourage people to stand at each end of the bridge and in the middle to experience the anamorphic illusion of 3D street painting.
Despite some challenging weather, Art for After Hours designed and created a 3D installation well received and enjoyed by the many attendees who came by following our progress and experiencing interactive art.
Anthony Cappetto is an internationally recognized artist working in 3D illusions and 4D emerging technologies such as augmented and virtual reality; founding Art for After Hours - the first professional street painting art company in 2001. Cappetto and Art for After Hours have brought 3D and 4D projects to events and exhibitions for corporate, public art, government, ngo, and not for profit clientele in Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Dubai (UAE), India, Japan, Uruguay, Mexico, and throughout the USA.
Wendy Stum is Marketing Director for Art for After Hours and an ardent supporter of all things streetpainting.
Recent, rapid interest in the rise of 4D in the public mind, coupled with the recent introduction of the 'Pokemon Go' phenomenon spreading across national US and soon if not already global markets has taken 4D from the early adopters, pioneers, etc., to the young, trendy demographics across the country.
Given this welcome introduction of 4D to the general population, Art for After Hours and I have been sought out by a whole new group of prospective clientele who want to have the immersivity and concept of the 4D street, chalk art experience. With the new interest comes the importance of clarifying what 4D is, what 3D is, and the understandings of time, logistics, and value with this evolutionary advancement in the street painting/chalk/emerging technologies art form.
This post is aimed at corporate, agency, and events clients who are exploring 4D street art immersive installations desiring a professional, sophisticated 4D experience using chalk type art work for total traditional art/emerging technologies experiences.
NOTE: We are not involved or implying involvement in anything to do with Pokemon GO, Nintendo, or any of their interests in any way shape or form with our business.
That bit of housekeeping cleared, as a user of the app, I gave it a whirl in NYC:
Lots of fun, watched out for others, vehicles, etc...
As any professional client would surmise, there is a lot of planning, coordination, let alone coding, programming, etc. to realize this simple scene using augmented reality (AR).
Now for an ARt for After Hours project as a simple level for explanatory purposes...
Composite picture that Art for After Hours uses with our recent 4D chalk art installation 'Asian Fusion'. Top to bottom: overall finished 3D dry chalk with 4D bowl/chopsticks AR; Anthony Cappetto of Art for After Hours with AR of 4D bowl/chopsticks as part of public demo; VR demo using elements of chalk drawn Chinese bowl within virtual walk-through based upon the 'Asian Fusion' concept designed and conceived by Artist Anthony Cappetto. Special thanks to my NYC based technology team for helping me achieve these concepts.
A full project using 4D with 3D street art would go far above this simple demonstration in terms of design of the AR models, placements, interaction with the human participants, deployment to viewers, attendees, etc., all with the work involved in designing and applying the 3D chalk/mural art in terms of ground, floor panels, placement of viewpoint for completely different viewing experiences and more.
All of this takes large and committed pre-planning, planning for 3D and 4D aspects, coordination of all, then deployment in one or multiple locations...
A well thought out and executed solution is worth the understanding, time, and effort. Feel free to reach out to Anthony Cappetto of Art for After Hours for more details and a straightforward discussion.
Anthony Cappetto is an internationally recognized 3D street painting (chalk) artist, Founder of Art for After Hours, a professional 4D/3D street art/mural company in New York City in 2001, and a pioneer, early adopter of 4D emerging technologies in street painting/chalk art such as augmented, virtual reality, spaces with 3D art. I extend special thanks to the staff, speakers, and Rutgers students whom were very excited and very interested in how Art for After Hours uniquely blends traditional hand drawn/painted street art and 4D emerging technologies such as augmented and 360 virtual reality together as one, cohesive, panoramic experience.
Professionally, we reach out to our clients in advertising, branding, public relations, government, and related sectors to explore with us projects of greater, tailored complexity that will make an impact for this nascent combination of art and emerging technologies.

Greetings from Wendy and I here at Art for After Hours!
This has been another banner year for the company and so excited about what 2016 has in store!
We're pleased to share some of the highlights from our projects and travels as well as a taste of 2016 3D/4D too...
Winter found Art for After Hours creating two 3D immersive designs for the inaugural #DubaiCanvas exhibition festival in Dubai, UAE for the Dubai Media Office. We were among a select group of the world's elite 3D street painting artists asked to create works for the festival. 'Supercars' (above) celebrated the weekend parade of super luxury vehicles making their way down the 'Walk' at Jumeriah Beach - a sight to see!
Our second piece at #DubaiCanvas was a taste of the old updated for a popular audience. 'Magic Carpet Ride' allowed us to 'fly' in the style of the 'Arabian Nights'... We enjoyed the creation of the art, and the opportunity to meet so many interesting and friendly people...
In the spring, we were busy working on projects that inspired and allowed us to share some of the fundamentals in the street painting art form. For the last two years, Art for After Hours has been working with the Furman University Art Department to provide workshops and to allow the students to try their hand at the street painting art form for the first time.
In June, we brought the 3D street painting art form to the Junebug Festival in Metuchen, NJ and flew high on the Junebug over the tri-state area!
As the summer got hot, so did our regional project load with a favorite being our 3D piece in Elmira, NY. Revisiting a 1970's era favorite pastime - solving the Rubiks Cube...
The 3D was great! Solving the cube - still working on that... ;)
Back to Europe in August doing our take on 'gardening' at the Wilhelmshaven Street Art Festival in Wilhelmshaven, Germany...
Just remember, That's not a Daisy... ;D
Fall became very busy very fast with a series of Festival appearances, Murals in Switzerland, and more...
'Spaghetti' 3D exhibition piece in Baltimore, MD for the Italian Restaurant Association as part of the Little Italy Baltimore Madonnari Arts Festival...
A stop in Marietta, GA as a participant in the Chalktoberfest showing our patriotism - Great, friendly people and art!
Back to Europe to design and paint an indoor 3D illusionary mural for a private luxury residential property in Geneva, Switzerland... The art measured over 22 feet high from base of stairs to underside of rafter.
And straight back to the USA for a 3D exhibition work at the Sarasota Venice Festival for a warm up to the Holidays...
Our 'Home Sweet (Gingerbread) Home' - an immersive 3D piece which allows our viewers to become a part of the art beyond being a spectator alone..
We are very excited about 2016 especially in terms of the availability of technology to become part of the 3D street art scene as we have advocated for many years...
Watch for some particularly interesting developments from Art for After Hours and Anthony Cappetto in the USA and internationally...
Happy Holidays from the entire Art for After Hours team!!!

Our Fall recap continues with a very fun 3D street art piece created for the inaugural Little Italy Baltimore Madonnari Arts Festival 2015.
As this is Little Italy, we were very enthusiastic about the requested subject matter which was a food item reflective of the neighborhood - thus the 3D street art piece 'Spaghetti'.
Here are some pictures of the 3D art - Enjoy!
Despite a rainy start, the 3D art designed and drawn by Art for After Hours Founder Anthony Cappetto, was very popular and gave the attendees their first exposure to the 3D anamorphic street painting art form at the festival. The fork was over fifteen feet long alone!
Special thanks to Cyd Wolf, Festival Director for the Little Italy Baltimore Madonnari Arts Festival 2015 and our sponsors of the local restaurant association for the inspiration for this tasty project!
